Anti-Label Shoot: Fall 2010

October 18, 2010

Kelli Martin is a Columbus designer that participated on season 5 of Project Runway. She has a very distinct steam punk/ industrial style to her clothing line, Anti-Label. She came to me about shooting her new fall line and I jumped at the opportunity.

When I was brainstorming about possible locations for the shoot I realized that I didn't have a lot of options or ideas. I wanted an abandoned warehouse or factory but I needed permission and/or electricity there since it would be a 4-6 hour shoot. The day before the shoot I got permission to shoot in the old Wonder Bread (soon to be Wonderland) building on N. 4th st, downtown. The place is currently being demolitioned and is covered in soot and machine parts. So I was a bit worried for the models and my camera gear.

The shoot came out amazing. Shooting in the warehouse felt like we had a set built for us. There were 20 foot tall machines covered in exposed pipes and wiring, long narrow hallways with great natural light coming in and an amazing roof view of the skyline. I can't wait to collaborate with Kelli again.
